politics of food: final project (origami)

the dim ‘sum’ of solitary eating

Background:

How much would you ‘pay’ to eat faster?

Dim sum and the Lazy Susan were designed to facilitate commensality,
or social eating.  Increasingly, people choose food on the basis of perceived
cost of time. With busy lives, we have noramlised the conveniences of
processed foods and solo eating.

The table setting makes the case for slow, social, and thoughtful meals.
The benefits are plentiful: better digestion, nutrition intake, food enjoyment,
and higher overall empathy when eating regularly with others.
